welcome back to the Durban International Film Festival being hosted once again... in Durban...yeah!!!! yup, we got 'popcorn dropping, burnt eye socket, what time is the next show?' going on down here on the East Coast of the South Side of Life. because of the linear sequential line up of this blogging service, this post may appear at the 'bottom' of this blog, unless i figure out how to correct that / pay sum1 to do it.
i have bean working with the KwaCinema team [www.myspace.com/kwacinema]
and so, this year, i(eye) focus on the events happening at KwaSuka. For those who know and those that don't, KwaSuka Theater is a quaint lil back-half of a church just down the road from BeanBagBohemia, off Stamford Hill Road. KwaCinema is the Film Division. brought together by Neil and Karen, it continues to evolve and present itself as a real opportunity for filmakers in the city to coagulate together for creative ventures, projects and festivals, but mostly for the sake of the community.
The Film Festival LineUp looks as impressive as ever, certainly not as segmented across channels, but well focused on the sectors it is involved in. the positioning of Posters, and the really 'eye-catching' ATL/BTL is typical of DIFF, slick, effective and communicated strongly. the issues of slow information transfer and that gremlin of a film guide still exist, with the same templates being used for the last few years, but hey...lemme not seem to be complaining.
there's over 300 screenings in roughly ten days at 7 focal locations, and a smattering of others cross the durbanScape. logistically amazing, gr82c a small team pull of a manuva like this.

i've set up a Flickr account to post pictures [with the original idea that i would post live from a Nokia N73]. whether the 'Live' aspect works or not, im sure im gonna learn even more, and the quest for the mobile office continues
check out the Flickr account at:
also gonna look into facebook and sum other web 2.0 assemblies. as always, will keep you posted on nu developmints.
so thats the first post... let the reel times roll ON>>
