lets start with this:

now thats just ridiculous. and very very silly.
seems our frends the Thought Police thought that this movie was not suitable for screening as it encouraged child pornography. Fools. this movie is an expose of the very thing they claim its propagating. by using strong imagery [ young girl standing naked in front of older men while they masturbate] is meant to do exactly what the Film Board hasnt allowed. People can see the harsh realities of the situation, and appreciate and understand the pressing nature of child porn, trafficking and the such. instead, they prefer to stick our heads in the sand, while they stick fig leafs on the blemishes of our world.
its quite perverted in the sense that things can never be dealt with if they stay locked away. movies like these force the issue out of the cinema and into our daily lives. its not saying Look how kewl child porn is, its saying Look at how real it is, unstylised and bare. itsa cryin shame, and if ne1 readin this can point me int he direction as to how we as Festival Goers can protest or at lease let the Board know what we think of their decision, post it baby...
the DIFF cud use all the support they can get on issues like these, so lets see if we can do sumting.
DIFF cud also use a degree more intelligence in their information systeming. i'll tell ya why. this happi camper blogger wakes up early Saturday [first weekend] and is amped for the SMS Sugarman Workshop where Kaganof n others are planning to hold a 'workshop' on making films with cameras. the first screening of the movie was halted att he last minute tho, as my drunken Suncoast Media liaison informed me late Friday.
so before i mission down to Bat Center, i call the number in the Holy Guide, to confirm the Workshop's activation. 'Sure ting, says the voice, defn ON' blam, zap, kachuuuuu, and this guy is headin down the hill to get there in time. and of cos, nothing!
so, soon as i get back tot he pad, i call the number agin, expecting to chune the Bat Center guys for having not their ducks inna row at all., beeg surprise that the number is the cca. well, thats different.
this is the command center that didnt have information on their own operation. what it means to me, is that their information is not flowing back to the source, its not designed to loopback to all activelink points. and thats notta good thing. so im still waiting for some1 to explain it all to me
so what does this all mean? two movies pulled off the circuit, one for 'creating desire to stimulate intelligent conversation' and the other for a phantom reason. it may not seem like much, it means a lot on the ground, an unaccountable information system and a chain of command that lacks vision. mmmm
whats also emerged is the static nature of the current information flow within the parameters of the Festival. the internet site is not nearly as 'live' with its info as it should be, and the mechanisms used to transfer info inside are slow, old and unimaginative.
there are ways around it, ways to make the information 'softer' and more pliable and transferable. if the cca wants my twenty cents worth on the issue, they welcome to throw some dollars down my hat.
okay, off to the next part of the show
